YouTube has allowed many more filmmakers to get their stories to market than even before. Here is a small selection of animated shorts that can be found on the site.
Enjoy!

Walt Disney Presents: A Clockwork Orange
- June 29, 2022
I will not call this offering a full fledge story or anything. It’s simply a thought on what it would be like if Disney made A Clockwork Orange as a cartoon. And it is as weird as it sounds.
It’s just a fun silly little bit. The strange thing is how well this faux trailer works. Near as I can tell they take some audio from the titular film and merge it with audio for a Disney release. That coupled with the animation produce something so funny because it is so bizarre.
It is like watching a funny trainwreck done in the animation style of The Ren & Stimpy Show. You cannot look away.
Walt Disney Presents: A Clockwork Orange one is just worth taking a look at. It’ll be a minute and a half of smiles and laughing and scratching your head asking ‘WTF?’

Batman: Broken Promises
- Written and Animated by Stephen Trumble
- April 26, 2022
Voice Cast
- Brian Vaughan
- David Trumble
- Sylvie Nightingale
- Bronwyn Sweeney
- Calum Carpenter
In tone this short, animated film has much in common with the more serious episodes of Batman: The Animated Series which this film from time to time imitates the style thereof. This is a dark and serious drama and unlike a great many Batman fan films out there the default villain is not the Joker but rather Two-Face. That’s one thing this film has going for it: it takes an unusual choice in who Batman confronts.
The style of the animation is largely unique unto itself other than instances that mimic Batman: The Animated Series. It looks more like a stylized comic book. It’s different and at times the images it shows can be shocking and disturbing. As a dramatic presentation this animated feature stands up there with anything live-action that has been produced.
There is just the right amount of music to set the tone for everything. It makes the narrative feel dark and foreboding which the story very much is. This in total is probably some of the best Batman material in ages.
Batman: Broken Promises is a great bit of Batman fan filmmaking. It has a great story and it will keep you from start to finish. It’s so good you’ll be saying these people need to be put in charge of something in DC!

Transformers: Starscream OVA Fan Film
- Written and Directed by 87render
- July 11, 2022
Voice Cast
- Thundercracker, Skywarp-87render
- Starscream-Banana.Pancake
- Megatron-H8shun Louis Deraville
Starscream is mysteriously summoned to see Megatron.
Transformers: Starscream OVA Fan Film is a fan film done in the animation style of the G1 series. And in that spirit it is done so well it feels like a clip from an episode. The look of the animation and characters is straight from that as is their portrayal.
The story is simple enough and plays upon the series rivalry between Starscream and Megatron. I never quite got why Megatron kept Starscream around. There has to be a point whatever your reason that the guy is just not worth the trouble. Anyway that was part of the fun of the show.
The action is great and the visuals are rather cool. What goes on amounts to a short battle but it is so much fun. It is a well-choreographed moment filled with adrenaline. Not only is Transformers: Starscream OVA Fan Film something that Transformers fans should check out, but general animation fans should as well. It’s good and to the point and quite enjoyable.

What I have here is a very random selection that I stumbled across mostly while searching out other things. All in all very entertaining and perhaps I should make a greater effort to find original animation on YouTube.
