Good Bad Flicks takes a look at films that while good have not received the love that they perhaps deserve. It finds things to love in some surprising places.
Good Bad Flicks is a YouTube channel that I came across some time back. It highlights obscure to sort of well-known films that get hate yet when you actually take a look might not necessarily deserve their reputation or perhaps should be better liked. The well-known and well received can be touched on but they are in the minority. The focus usually is on the obscure undeservedly hated cinematic stepchild.
What we get here is all done from a loving perspective. There is no hate from those behind Good Bad Flicks. The narrator knows exactly what he is watching and understands it is not usually high art but generally rather cheesy entertainment. The Sinful Nuns of Saint Valentine and Spellcaster will never win an Oscar, but they do have some guilty pleasure entertainment value.
The narrator points out the good and the bad in what is featured. He even goes into a little history as well as some side stories. You learn the difficulties faced in making the film and what may even have led to a less than stellar product.
There are plenty of movies I have not seen or even thought about in decades here. It is like a trip through my hometown video store. The level of obscuria one gets from this channel is the kind of thing I sought out in the day.
There are also quite a few that get highlighted that I never knew existed and find myself seeking out afterwards. Happy Birthday to Me is one in particular that stands out to me. It is an 80s horror film previously unknown to me. Their discussion of it caused me to find it and take a look. I could tell he found enjoyment and I thought I could find some too.
To be clear Good Bad Flicks is not just a YouTube thing (YouTube link HERE). They have a website you can check out their content at or you can follow them on social media on Facebook as well as Twitter. It is worth checking out.
If you’re a fan of movies of bad movies that somehow manage to be good, then Good Bad Flicks is definitely worth a look. This is a fun and informative channel that will not only introduce you to entertaining material you may not have heard of but remind you of stuff you have forgotten.
