The Glorious Ridiculousness That Is ‘Space Ice’

Space Ice is all about awesome movies. It’s also about awful movies.

Whether it’s Jean Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, Nicolas Cage, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or even the terrible Steven Seagal. Yes, I put myself through the torture of reviewing all the Steven Seagal “movies” if you can really call them that.

If it’s an awesome movie, we’ll cover it. If it’s a bad movie, we’ll cover it. We review the best and worst movies ever made. To be honest, though, it’s mostly bad movies.

Sometimes YouTube algorithms get things very wrong when it comes to their suggestions. Sometimes YouTube algorithms get things very right when it comes to their suggestions. This is certainly the latter.

Space Ice is a channel that YouTube had repeatedly suggested to me with one video or another for a long time but I never took a look until not that long ago. I can’t remember specifically what film it was they were discussing but I can tell you it was a Steven Seagal movie and I was curious why they thought this film I never heard of was the worst movie ever. Needless to say I was entertained and started consuming every one of their offerings. Often I laugh so hard that I have difficulty breathing.

Despite covering multiple films of varying quality (mostly bad or so-bad-they’re-good), he brings everything back to Steven Seagal in what borders on a humorous obsession. Even if the movie is not a Seagal movie, there is one joke about the man inserted. It is a bit of a trademark that fans have come to embrace. Check out the comments section.

On Seagal they have a particular axe to grind. Truth be told Seagal is probably not that good of a guy and currently a very lazy performer. They point out Seagal’s low effort in his newer films as well as pointing out the general absurdity. This is an overweight 70 something man into spray tans and fake hair that must always portray himself as the best of the best and sexually irresistible to women as his characters regularly casually visit strip clubs. He uses body doubles and bad dubbing in all his movies. Anywho…

Far from unbiased but completely hilarious

Space Ice takes elements of whatever movie is the topic and fashions their own extremely absurd version-sometimes. Having taken in a few of the ones discussed what is presented in reality is not always that far from what he gives us. Oft times he comes up with a better plot than the moviemakers did.

Seagal is not his only topic. He takes on Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, Nicolas Cage, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and random other movies. Our narrator derives most of their humor from the sillier elements such as Schwarzenegger walking around with a log as if it’s a normal thing or maybe Zack Ward (referred to solely as Scut Farkas) appearing in several movies in a row that are talked about.

He blurs together different movies by referencing an actor’s other work as if it was connected to the current movielike Danny Trejo who appeared in Con Air and or the Jean-Claude Van Damme vehicle Inferno where Trejo played two different yet similarly named characters. That is in conjunction to often tossing in the Van Damme dancing sequence from Kickboxer to the point you are confused which movie it came from.

This is some of the best comedy you will find on YouTube. It is stupid and silly and often done with an appreciation on some level of whatever movie. You cannot be this funny by taking apart something without the most ethereal element of getting the it of the project. And the brain(s) behind Space Ice most certainly get it.

Ultimately Space Ice is a humorous look at bad films or films that are so-bad-that-they-are-good. While his X account seems inactive, YouTube is alive and well here and he has a few other accounts with links you can find on YouTube. Regardless of your viewpoint on whatever they are discussing, I guarantee you that you will laugh so hard at times you won’t be able to breathe. This channel is guaranteed to put you in a good mood. I highly recommend it!
