A trio of android warrior sisters are awakened after 10,000-years to fight a series of mechanized warlords that threaten their world.

Tubi is among my favorite streaming services. The amazing price aside, it has a very interesting selection that can satisfy any taste. Everything from obscure Cult Classics to legit Classics can be found. That is where I found the very unusual Robotica Destructiva which for me was a hidden gem.

With the high energy music, Robotica Destructiva often plays like a weird music video or a very stylized video game. The heavy CGI that leans into bad old school special effects gives it a very cartoonish feel. Then again the humor is broad and blunt and goofy. This was done with virtually no money and they clearly played into the cheapness. Based on the clear heavy use of green screen I doubt there are few if any actual sets with the actors performing in cheap costumes that look silly but fit with the aesthetic.

This is a wild drug fueled hallucination of a movie. It’s a careening plot that starts at a breakneck pace and doesn’t get up until the climax. It’s precisely what a kid with ability would come up with. It has that same kid friendly thin logic feel. The fights and some of the effects work is very reminiscent of the original Mortal Kombat game.

There is time travel and empires and a million other things tossed at the viewer in rapid succession. You become so focused on what weird thing comes next you honestly lose track of what is going on in the story. You know the three heroes are awakened after 10,000 years to get a device back but I am not exactly sure how the climax ties into that because so much happens in between the two. Why does one of these women from another dimension have a bad 80s Russian accent? That and so many other things will make absolutely no sense but you just accept it.

There is no padding. The shots are short and to the point. What little plot exists is not slowed up by extraneous side quests or character development. It’s all about dumb scenarios and cheesy action. This is the kind of movie you watch when you’re having a bad day. It helps you forget what your stresses and issues might’ve been that put you in a bad mood.

It’s hard to get precise about Robotica Destructiva. It is a bonkers fun experience. It knows it’s not a good movie and just has fun with it and by doing so they make quality trash. It’s engaging and entertaining and doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Robotica Destructiva comes at you with no pretense. It is there to just entertain and blow your mind with ridiculousness. Highly recommend!
