Ellen Ripley is the only human survivor of the Colonial Marine ship Sulaco from the previous film after a fire starts and it crash lands on the all-male penal colony Fiorina “Fury” 161. Soon it becomes apparent that the xenomorph threat has followed.

Ellen Ripley is found in outer space having been lost for 50 years. With a colony now established on the exomoon LV-426 and communications having stopped, she must return to where her nightmare began.

After responding to an alien signal of unknown origin, the crew of the commercial space tug Nostromo must deal with a killing machine of unknown origin in a struggle to survive.
